Dr. Calhoun joined the faculty of the Wildlife Ecology Department in September 2007, with research interests in vernal pool ecology and conservation and wetland ecology. Before coming to the Department of Wildlife Ecology, Dr. Calhoun was an Associate Professor for the Department of Plant, Soil, and Environmental Sciences from 1998-2007. Dr. Calhoun teaches courses in wetland mapping and delineation, wetland ecology and conservation, field studies in ecology, and environmental solutions, and is the faculty advisor for the Maine Student Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology.

Dr. Calhoun received an A.B. from Brown University in 1981; M.A. in Education from RI College in 1985; M.S. in Natural Resources Science, Wetland Ecology from University of RI in 1989; and  Ph.D. from the University of Maine in 1996.
